I am a female white and brown chihuahua sh and min pinscher mix. The shelter thinks I am about 2 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 11/30/2016 from NY 11203, owner surrender reason stated was LLORDPRIVA. I came in with Group/Litter #K16-082996.

11/30/16 20:54 Penelope is a two year old white female chihuahua/min pin mix. She was surrendered by her owner due to owner moving into a facility that does not accept pets. She was a gift from a friend and was with her owner since she was a puppy. Penelope has lived with three adults, four kids, two dogs and a cat. She is described as reserved around strangers and will bark when she first meets someone. After several minutes she will warm up and slowly approach them. She has lived with children ages two and above, she is described as playful and will allow them to pet her. Around the other female dog in the home she was aggressive and owner stated she would lunge and fight. She was kept in a seperate area of the home. Around the male dog she was playful and would engage in exuberant play. Owner stated she would also try to fight the cat in the home as well. Penelope is housetrained and rarely has accidents indoors. She lived in a home with a yard. Penelope is used to yard exercise a few times a day. She is fed dry food Purina brand and was fed twice a day. Owner stated Penelope was not bothered when a human approached her food but if the other animals in the home would she would growl and snap. Penelope loves any toy and tolerates grooming. Upon intake Penelope was hard barking and lunging when approached. Cousnelor was able to collar, scan (negative) and phototgraph. She allowed all handling.

KNOWN HISTORY: [Unaltered, owner surrender: Penelope has lived with her owner since puppyhood] Previously lived with: Adults (3), children (4,ages 2+), dogs (2, small), and a cat Behavior toward children: Playful and tolerant around the kids in her home Behavior toward dogs: Playful and exuberant with the male dog, showed some reported aggression toward the other female dog and had to be kept separate. Please note: all 3 dogs in the home are unaltered. Behavior toward cats: Fights FG/RG: None reported toward humans, but growled and snapped when the other animals in the home approached her while eating. Bite history: Unknown, though Penelope has had conflicts with other animals in the home. Housetrained: Yes Energy level/descriptors: Other notes: Penelope is reserved around strangers, and needs some time to warm up and initiate approach. SAFER ASSESSMENT: 12/2/16 Summary: Penelope is difficult to remove from the kennel, lunging and snapping at the leash. She appears to be uncomfortable or afraid of the slip lead. She has also allowed minimal handling from her caretakers. Out of concern for her stress levels and her response to restraint, we feel Penelope is not a great candidate for a handling assessment at this time. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Penelope is slightly social, slowly greeting the other male and female small dogs as well a couple larger dogs. Around the male dog she was playful and would engage in exuberant play. 12/2: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Penelope is slightly social, slowly greeting the other male and female small dogs as well a couple larger dogs. She displays stiff body language when close to the other female dog, Sandy, she was surrendered with. 12/3- 12/4: Penelope was a bit more social today with a group of small male and female dogs.
