01/28/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
01/28/16 15:36 Pebbles gets along well with children, cats, and dogs. She has never been bathed or had her nails trimmed. She was fed Pedigree dry only and was crate trained. Previous owners said that she does not like her food bowl being touched, and will growl if a hand is extended towards it. She has no issues with any toys taken away from her.
01/31/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Young Pebbles was brought to us as her family was unable to care for her vaginal prolapse. Our veterinarians took care of the issue and the little damsel is recovering on our premises, wearing a much needed Elizabethan collar she is not so fond of..Who would be? We do not know much about Pebbles as her owners did not leave much information about her…She would get along well with kids, cats and dogs but would have a tendency to guard her food..Well, this little gal is quite thin..Her thin frame is saying …”Give me more food” and of course, this is what we are doing…She is ravenous for treats and will bark insistently to get more. As a matter of fact, Pebbles barks at everything, unidentified noises, people coming suddenly at the pen’s door, other dogs… like a child who is often ignored and makes a pest of him/herself to get attention. She is anxious, tense and gets easily frustrated..What gets her “all better” is the human contact, the safe haven of two arms circling her body, hands caressing her face and soft words pouring into her ears. Her tail then wags non stop, she is silent and taking in all the love she can get…Pebbles is still a babe at 11 months of age and has already gone through a lot. Suboptimal outside care, surgery, separation from her family and her home…This is a lot for a little one’s brain..Pebbles is putting her life in your experienced hands. We can not deny that she has her little issues but just think what a new, safe, caring and loving new life could do for this little girl…This is the miracle we are all waiting for. Pebbles is waiting for you at the Manhattan Care Center
01/29/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Pebbles pulls a bit on the leash. She was calm and relaxed during handling and easily engages in play, body is loose and wiggly, mouth open. Pebbles was easy to handle when chewing on toys. She rushed in quickly during the dog-dog test, hard barking, body is tense, ears erect and high tail wag. Pebbles was surrender to us. According to her previous owner Pebbles gets along well with children, cats, and dogs. The owners mentioned that she does not like her food bowl being touched, and will growl if a hand is extended towards it. She has no issues with any toys taken away from her”. Because of her owner profile the behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification. We also recommend a home without young children; older children can be considered pending interaction. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Toy 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Dog – dog 3. Dog approaches the helper dog by rushing in with her tail high, stiff body, head tall, and ears erect. Helper: A1063613
02/02/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Pebble has not yet been intoduced to off leash to other dogs while in our care, due to a medical condition. When greeting a dog through a barrier (fence), she approaches with a high tail and ears erect and begins to offer attention seeking vocalizations when the other dogs walk away. Her owner reports she gets along with other dogs, although in what capacity was not fully described. Because we were unable to observe her interactions off leash, the behaivor department recommends a pre-adoption interaction before placing Pebbles into a home with other dogs.
