Hello, my name is Peanut. My animal id is #10071. I am a desexed male buff dog at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 12 years old.
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 18-Oct-2017, with the surrender reason stated as person health – cancer.
Peanut 10071 is at risk for his medical condition, including dental disease, geriatric, and overweight. Note also that Peanut is blind. Behaviorally, he has been calm and social with humans and other dogs, and is suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience.

Behavior Condition: 1. Green
Peanut wagged his tail while we pet him, talked to him, and collared him. He looked around while we took his pictures. He was soft-bodied and tolerant while I picked him up and placed him in his kennel.
Spay/Neuter Status: Spayed
Basic Information:: Peanut is a senior male Cocker Spaniel mix. His owner had to surrender him because she has cancer and her health is declining. She was very sad to part with Peanut.

Medical Notes: Owner reports Peanut has vision loss.
For a New Family to Know: Peanut’s owner reports he’s started to have occasional accidents in the home. She believes this is because he cannot hold his bladder/bowels for as long. He goes on/near wee-wee pads but sometimes misses a little.

Look:: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, ears are back, tail is down, relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity:: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, eyes are averted, and tail is in neutral position with a relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
