Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Peachey came into our center after a member of the public found her as a stray. Upon intake, she was a bit nervous and attempting to flee. Peachey was tense and nervous during her initial medical exam, but allowed all handling. Peachey allowed her head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, body stiff, eyes averted, trembling. She stood still during Sensitivity item, body tense and stiff, whale eye, mouth closed, tail down. Peachey repeatedly tried to exit during Tag game, growling. Due to this the remaining tactile portions of the assessment were skipped. Peachey showed no interest in Toy, focused on handler as she had warmed up and became comfortable with the handler upon entering SAFER assessment room. Peachey did not approach the helper dog. Peachey must be placed with a New Hope partner. She may benefit from a calm, quiet, structured environment so she can relax and know what to expect in her new home. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is stiff and fearful, trembling; her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is between her legs, body stiff, mouth closed, whale eye, ears back. Tag: 5. Dog and repeatedly tries to exit, crouching, growls Toy 1. No interes, focused on handler. Dog – dog 2. Dog does not approach the helper dog
