Hello, my name is Peaches. My animal id is #10957. I am a female white dog at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 10 years old.
I came into the shelter as a stray on 27-Oct-2017.
Peaches is at risk for having several medical conditions. Peaches is 10 years old with mammary tumors, dental disease and otitis externa (ear inflammation). She will require ear medication, dental work and possible surgery to remove the tumors.

During intake, Peaches allowed all handling during intake. She was not bothered when counselor touched her food bowl or collared her.

Look:: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted, body posture is stiff and fearful, tail is low and not moving. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity:: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, eyes are averted, tail is between legs, body stiff, mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick.
Tag:: 1. Dog follows at the end of the leash, body low and a bit fearful.
Paw squeeze 1:: 1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw.
Paw squeeze 2:: 1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw.
Toy:: 1. No interest.
Summary:: Peaches came into the room a bit fearful and timid, she did warm up towards the handlers with a slow approach.
Summary (1):: Peaches is soft but nervous when interacting with a group of calm dogs. She mostly keeps to herself, while exploring the pens. She is uncomfortable with an anxious dog, and attempts to mount him with a stiff posture. Peaches was brought in as a stray so her past behavior with other dogs is unknown. The Behavior Department recommends that Peaches be placed in a home with resident dogs that are respectful, and match her calm demeanor. 10/28: When off leash at the Care Center, Peaches greets the novel male dog with a soft body. She explores the pens, mostly keeping to herself. 10/29: Peaches continues to be slightly nervous while interacting with other dogs but remains soft and mostly keeps to herself. 10/30-31: In a group of calm male and female dogs, Peaches mostly avoids interacting with them but when she greets a young, anxious male, her posture stiffens, tail raises and she attempts to mount him.
