07/21/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Patches came in as a stray, so her past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Patches had relaxed body posture and she allowed all handling. During SAFER Patches came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, she was social towards the assessor with a slow approach. Not all handling items were able to be conducted as Patches snapped at the assessor on the second paw squeeze item. She displayed minimal interest in the toy resource item during this portion of the assessment. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is between her legs, body a bit tense, and mouth open. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 5. Dog snaps at the assessor. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog smells, then turns away.
07/21/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Patches was surrendered as a stray so her past behavior around dogs is unknown. 7/21: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Pacthes greets the other dog appropriately and wonders in the pen. She is tolerant of his persistent greeting but mostly keeps to herself.
