A volunteer writes:
Little Papi is with us as his owners lost their home. He has been so well cared for and looks like a shiny gold nugget. Papi is very shy in his kennel and needs some coaxing to be leashed and come out for a walk. He seems to enjoy his stroll, though and trots tail out and wagging around the block, not forgetting to do his business. Papi is pretty timid leash free in the huge backyard. He is hugging the door…A smaller space is more to his like. I pick him up. His shaking subsides. He feels safe held tight against my chest. Papi likes to be caressed and gives kisses in return… The ice is broken between us. Papi lived with adults but is said to be good with children and welcoming of strangers. He would bark at cats…He is a well mannered, playful and very affectionate pup who will make a lovely, loving and loyal companion like Chihuahuas are known to be. Come and meet Papi very soon at the Manhattan Care Center.
