08/16/16 12:04 Panda A1085576 is a young adult male APBT mix. He was brought to ACC with Faith A1085574. They were left in the backyard when their owner had to move away for an emergency. A neighbor has been feeding them. He reports that the dogs are friendly, affectionate, and playful with people, including strangers, as well as with each other. They have lived in the yard. Panda had a loose, wiggly body, open mouth, and wagging tail while I pet him, scanned him(-), collared him, and positioned him for pictures. He often stood up and gently leaned into me and wagged his tail fast while I pet him. He lied down flat on his abdomen with his legs splayed out.

08/18/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Panda came to the care center as a stray. Upon intake, he had a loose, wiggly body, open mouth, and wagging walk. For his relief walk, Panda pulled hard and was very reactive to other dogs (barking, lunging, growling). Upon entering the assessment room, he appeared tense. He jumped into the assessor’s lap seeking attention. His eyes were averted for Look, body a bit tense, tail tucked. He remained tense for Sensitivity, tail tucked, and stood still for the touch. He turned toward the assessor during Tag, body and head low, and did not follow. He did not pull back his paw on either Squeeze attempt. She had minimal interest in Toy, sniffing it. Panda has displayed a concerning level of reactivity to other dogs while in his kennel and while walking on leash. He stiffens, growls, and lunges toward them. A muzzle is applied before continuing with an off-leash interaction. Panda enters the pen and approaches the female helper dog with a stiff body, and maintains hard eye contact. When the female helper dog moves slightly, Panda charges after, vocalizing and attempts to jump onto her back. The Behavior Team recommends that Panda be placed in an Experienced home with No Children. He would benefit from a slow approach and introduction, and an initially calm and quiet home environment. He will need careful management if being walked around other dogs. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is tense and fearful, his tail is tucked. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body tense. Tag 3 . Dog repeatedly turns quickly away when touched, body and head low, does not follow. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog sniffs toy. Dog to Dog: When off leash with another dog at the care center, Panda enters the pen and approaches the female helper dog with a stiff body, and maintains hard eye contact. When the female helper dog moves slightly, Panda charges after, vocalizing and attempts to jump onto her back.

8/16: Panda has displayed a concerning level of reactivity to other dogs while in his kennel and while walking on leash. He stiffens, growls, and lunges toward them. A muzzle is applied before continuing with an off-leash interaction. Panda enters the pen and approaches the female helper dog with a stiff body, and maintains hard eye contact. When the female helper dog moves slightly, Panda charges after, vocalizing and attempts to jump onto her back. Panda arrived into our care as a stray, so there is no is no available history of previous interaction with other dogs. The behavior team advises against placing Panda into a home with other dogs. Any future owner should exercise caution when walking Panda in areas where there may be large amounts of dog traffic.
