Hello, my name is Pancakes. My animal id is #15546. I am a male white dog at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 4 years old.
I came into the shelter as a stray on 06-Dec-2017.
Pancakes is at risk for medical reasons, having been diagnosed with Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease Complex, which is contagious to other dogs. Behaviorally, we suggest that Pancakes would be best suited to a dog experienced home.

Pancakes started to jump on me and would try to lick my face. Pancakes would lick my hand whenever I tried to pet his head. Pancakes became excited when he heard a squeaky toy and would not let go of it. However, he was distracted by food and did not have an issue with me picking up the toy.

ENERGY LEVEL:: We have no history on Pancakes so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. However, he is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: EXPERIENCE (suitable for an adopter with some previous dog experience, especially with the behaviors outlined below)
Behavior Asilomar: TM – Treatable-Manageable
Potential challenges: : Social hyperarousal
Potential challenges comments:: Social hyperarousal: Pancakes quickly becomes over aroused in the presence of excitement, mounting people. Positive reinforcement, force-free training should be used to teach Pancakes to remain calm when people and other exciting things are around. He should be reward with treats when calm. If he escalates to mounting, people should immediately walk away from and separate themselves from Pancakes.
