04/01/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
04/01/16 19:28 Paco is a 14 year old male Brindle and white American Pit-Bull terrier. He was given to his owners as a gift from a family member and has been in their care since he was born. He is being surrendered into our facility due to owner having personal problems. With strangers he is friendly and plays gentle with adults. Has no experience with children. He lived with another dog Blue (A1069100) and with each other they are tolerant and playful. He has been around another dog which was his litter mate until he passed and he was gentle with him. No experience with cats. There is no known history of him biting another person or animal. He was housed in a basement and would use the bathroom in a section down there. He does destroy stuff indoors such as wood and paper bags. During fireworks and storms he panics. You are able to touch his food bowl while he is eating; behavior is unknown to taking treats or objects away. Paco doesn’t enjoy eater; he will attempt to run and struggle. He is friendly when his nails are being trimmed and coat is being brushed. Doesn’t mind when being held or restrained. When unfamiliar people approach the home he did not bother nor when unfamiliar people approach you. Paco is described as being friendly and playful with a low activity level who will do best in an older home. His favorite activities are eating or playing with his balls or squeaky toys. When home he will follow you around. He is mostly kept indoors and eats dry food Pedigree once a day. His favorite treats are Milk Bones. He is mostly house trained and rarely has any accidents. When left alone in the home he can destroy things, when left alone in the yard he is well behaved. He knows such command as “sit”. For exercise he takes slow walks on the leash or play in the yard, he can pull hard on the leash also. Off the leash he will wander but come when you call. Usually Paco will potty on the cement or dirt. During intake Paco present a loose body and wagging tail allowed all handling from counselor to be scanned (negative), collared and photographed.

04/05/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Paco came to us as an owner surrender due to the owner not having the time to care for him anymore. Paco was surrendered with another dog that he lived with in the home. According to the owner they were tolerant and playful with each other. Additionally, the owner said that Paco has not interacted with children before but is very friendly and gentle toward strangers. When entering the behavior room Paco had very soft body language and was very interested in interacting with the assessor. He was very easily handled and allowed the assessor to conduct all tactile assessment items while maintaining soft body language. He did not engage in play during the tag interaction, but followed the assessor at the end of the leash with very soft and wiggly body language. Paco only displayed minimal interest in the toy item on this portion of the assessment. The behavior department believes that Blue can go to an adopter with an average amount of dog experience. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1.Minimal interest. Dog smells, licks and mouths, then turns away. When off leash with other dogs, Paco approaches and greets with a high tail and slightly tense body posture but a neutral face. He may become sexually motivated but responds to handler interruptions. Paco does not engage in play but is tolerant of solicitations and does interact with the other dog.
