07/27/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Ozzy was difficult to remove from his kennel showing teeth, growling. The behavior team had to use a towel to safely remove him from his kennel. Ozzy is fearful of the shelter environment he walks with a low and fearful body language. He was fearful and repeatedly attempted to get away from the handler during the assessment. He had a low body, hackles raised, ears back, tucked tail, showing his teeth. The behavior team decided to skip the handling part of the assessment for safety reasons. During the resources Ozzy was not interested in toys. Ozzy was surrender to us. According to his previous owner Ozzy is Playful, confident, fearless, and protective with a very high activity level. Ozzy is shy at first around strangers and is protective of females. He has been around kids’ ages 4 and 5 and is playful, respectful, and tolerant around them. He plays in a gentle manner with adults as well as kids. Ozzy will bark if you touch his food while eating, If you try to take away a treat, toy, rawhide or bone, he will run away from you”. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home.
