KNOWN HISTORY: Limited Profile Date of intake 9/8/2017 Neutered male, owner surrender Bite history: Owner reports Otis regularly bites people, including the owner. No bite information was obtained, no other details. SAFER ASSESSMENT: Date of assessment 9/13/2017Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is tense, his tail is low and not moving, lip lick. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body tense, mouth closed Tag: 2. Dog is fearful but unresponsive when touched, stops following mid game, requires significant coaxing to approach Squeeze 1 / 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog sniffs, then turns away. Summary: Otis would occasionally become tense during assessment, but tolerated all handling without escalating. INTAKE BEHAVIOR: Date of intake 9/8/2017 During intake, Otis was tense with eyes averted, but allowed hadnling when approached slowly. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Date of initial 9/8/2017 During his initial medical exam, Otis was tense but tolerated all handling. ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Otis so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced, adults only _X_No children (under 13) Otis appears to become uncomfortable with some up close handling. We feel an adult only home would be most beneficial at this time. Potential challenges: _X_Mulitple Bite history – Although we do not have any details, owner reports Otis has bitten on more than one occasion. He may benefit from a calm, quiet, structured environment so he can acclimate to his new home at his own pace.
