RECOMMENDATIONS: New Hope Only _X_No children (under 13) _X_Place with a New Hope partner: Due to all noted concerns displayed in a home environment, the behavior department recommends Oso be placed with a New Hope placement partner who is able to provide an experienced adult-only foster home. A period of decompression is recommended to allow Oso to acclimate comfortably to his new environment; force-free, reward based training only is advised when introducing Oso to new and unfamiliar situations. Consultation with a professional trainer/behaviorist is highly recommended for guidance to safely manage/modify any behavior Oso presents with outside of the care centers. Potential challenges: _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression: Oso gives clear warnings when he is uncomfortable and does seem to choose to avoid or retreat when given the opportunity, but if prevented from moving away there is a potential to escalate to higher-level warning behaviors and possible fear-based aggression, see known bite history. It is important to move slowly with Oso, to build positive associations (treats/toys/praise), and to allow Oso to initiate interactions with new people. He should never be forced to greet or to interact if he is not comfortable and soliciting attention. _X_Multiple-bite history/risk of future aggression
