02/08/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Orlando came into our center after a member of the public found him as a stray so behaviors in the home are unknown. He pulled on leash for his relief walk. Orlando barked to solicit attention in the SAFER assessment room. He allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, focused on sniffing assessor’s shirt. He accepted the touch during Sensitivity, focused on sniffing the floor, body soft and tail wagging. Orlando was distracted and unresponsive during Tag game, very focused on sniffing the floor throughout the entire game. He gently pulled his paw back on both Squeeze attempts. Orlando playfully engaged with Toy, keeping a firm grip with loose body. When off leash with other dogs, Orlando greets the other dog with a neutral, relaxed body. He exchanges sniffs but mostly explores the yard. The Behavior Team feels Orlando would do well with an Average adopter. He may benefit from daily mental and physical stimulation in the forms of daily walks, runs, exercise, and play. Orlando may benefit from obedience classes so he can learn leash manners and focus. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back, focused on other stimuli. Sensitivity: 2. Dog accepts touch, focused on other stimuli. Body soft, tail wag. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor. He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1/2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip , body loose. He does not place his body between you and the toy. dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Orlando greets the other dog with a neutral, relaxed body. He exchanges sniffs but mostly explores the yard.
02/07/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Orlando greets with a soft, wiggly body. He solicits play politely with quick bounces and bows and engages in gentle play. Orlando also is tolerant of dogs that are assertive and respectful of uncomfortable females. Due to his behavior in playgroup, the Behavior Department feels that Orlando could go to a home with other dogs of any play style as long as a proper introduction is performed. ** Social Greeter Dog ** When off leash with other dogs, Orlando greets with a soft, wiggly body. He solicits play politely and engages in gentle play and is tolerant of an assertive female that mounts him. 2/08 update: Orlando greets the other dog with a neutral, relaxed body. He exchanges sniffs but mostly explores the yard. 2/09 update: Orlando greets the other dog appropriately with a soft, but elevated body. He becomes sexually motivated once he enters the pen but responds well to the handler’s interruptions. 2/10 update: Orlando does not react to a female who gives a hard stare during their greeting. He is unsure, stepping back a step or two but does approach her once the pen is opened.
