11/15/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: This handsome fellow was found tied to a gate and is understandably a bit confused at the moment. Very good looking, happy to be leashed for our date and the chance to get outside to go potty, Orien has a gorgeous prance when he walks — think high stepping thoroughbred horse. He pulled a bit at first, but settled into a nice rhythm with me. His tail wags as we walk, and while he wants to be friends, he’s a bit shy about it. After some good conversation about the nice weather, are the squirrels in the park done burying their nuts for the winter, and how about that election!, Orien is ready to take some treats from my hand and let me put a bandanna around his neck. He shows off his sit, gently enjoys some treats, and wags his tail at other dogs we pass. Off leash in a pen, we solidify our friendship, and when another dog passes us, Orien is all play bows and happy tail wags. I’m looking forward to spending more time with this gorgeous pup, but mostly looking forward to watching him wag his tail out the door on his way to his happily ever after. Be sure to meet him when you visit.

Potential challenges: _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression (Shadow has been observed to display fearful behavior during his stay at our care centers; at times will avoid interaction and shy away from direct-touch. Shadow easily startles and is made uncomfortable by loud noises and sudden movement and will display proper warning signals as well as increase distance from anything that may present a threat. We cannot be certain if any other behavior is suppressed as a result of his environment. A period of decompression is advised before introduction or exposure to new and unfamiliar situations. Force-free, reward based training is advised.)
