I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 12/13/2016 from NY 11236, owner surrender reason stated was NYCHA BAN. I came in with Group/Litter #K16-084316.

12/13/16 13:29 Oreo Cookie is a three year old male black and white American Pitbull terrier. He was surrendered by his owner residing in a NYCHA facility that does not allow certain breeds. Oreo Cookie was a gift from a friend and was with his owner for about two years. Oreo Cookie was not taken to the vet by her previous owner. Oreo Cookie has lived with one adult, a ten year old child and a female American Pitbull terrier. Oreo Cookie is described as friendly and outgoing with strangers and will run up to new people he sees on the street with a wagging tail. Oreo Cookie is described as relaxed and very playful with the ten year old. Owner stated he would sleep and engage in exuberant play with the child. Oreo Cookie lived with Stoney, a female Pitbull and was described as playful and respectful. Owner stated the two dogs would sleep, eat and play together. They would occasionally fight but nothing ever serious according to the owner. Oreo Cookie has never bitten another animal or person. Oreo Cookie is walked three times a day and is used to slow leashed walks. Oreo Cookie is fearful of thunderstorms and will bark. Owner stated he will continue to bark and hide. Oreo Cookie does not mind when his food is touched while eating and will continue to eat. Oreo Cookie does not like bathing and will attempt to flee and struggle. Oreo Cookie will bark when someone knocks on the front door and run to the door and wag his tail along with the other dog to greet the visitor. Oreo Cookie is described as a high energy baby, owner stated he loves to cuddle and run around the home. Oreo Cookie was crate trained and owner stated he will whine and cry the whole time he is in the crate. Oreo Cookie knows the command sit; if he is doing something he is not supposed to if he hears the work “bad” he will stop. Oreo Cookie eats Natural Balance brand dry food and is fed twice cups twice a day. Upon intake Oreo Cookie wagged his tail and had a wiggly body when approached by cousnelor. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy Summary: Oreo Cookie displayed no behavioral concerns on his assessment. When off leash at the Care Center, Oreo Cookie displays stiff body language when greeting both male and female dogs. He becomes stiff, growls and barks. A muzzle is placed on him. Once in the pen with the calm female dog, Oreo Cookie becomes stiff and begins to bark while backing up when the greeter dog greets him face to face. The session is ended. The Behavior Department recommends that Oreo Cookie be placed in a home with no residents dogs. 12/14: Oreo Cookie was introduced to another male dog since we did not have an appropriate opposite sex helper dog for him to meet. At the gate Oreo Cookie lowered his head, tensed his body and growled while giving a hard stare to the male greeter. Since he gave very clear signals that he was not comfortable we did not introduce them directly. 12/15: When introduced to a calm female dog, Oreo Cookie displays stiff body language when greeting her through the gate and begins barking. A muzzle is placed on him. Once in the pen with the calm female dog, Oreo Cookie becomes stiff and begins to bark while backing up when the greeter dog greets him face to face. The session is ended.
