02/28/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
02/28/16 19:33hrs Onandi walked slowly outside of his carrier with his tail wagging. When a hand was extended towards him he would sniff at it. He allowed petting on his back but would quickly lower his head and keep his tail tucked between his legs when he was petted on his head. He understood the command “sit” when he was offered treats. He was collared, scanned for a microchip(negative) and photographed.
03/01/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Named after a well known soccer player, our Onandi spends his time in his kennel resting, and is being fed an extra meal daily to help him gain some much needed weight. Found as a stray, he was brought in by the police and exited the crate shyly but with his tail wagging. It’s impossible to not fall in love with his pudgy little face, his big soulful eyes, his sweet nose that looks smudged with charcoal and his neglected body that needs weight and TLC. He’s quiet in his kennel, and when he saw me pass by for the third time stood up and came forward letting me know he was ready. Likely housetrained, he ‘went’ as soon as we were out the door, and while he pulls initially on leash, once his business was done, he walks nicely. Showing off his sit, he softly takes his reward treat, explores the pen and greets other dogs through the fence. In his first group play session he was quiet and gentle, offering and receiving some ‘how do you do’ sniffs and gently wagging his tail. He comes when I call him and shyly accepts some petting with a gentle wave of his tail. He positions himself in front of me for a butt scratch, looking back at me sweetly. Onandi has the most amazing soft prance as he walks — a little bouncy step, and I can tell that when he’s at full weight with a luster to his coat he’s going to be one rock-star-looking little dude. Sweet, alert, interested in his surroundings and softly but shyly making friends, Onandi is hoping to meet his BFF today. Ask to meet him when you visit. You’ll fall in love as I did.
03/02/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Onandi walks calmly on leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Onandi followed the assessor at the end of the leash with a calm and relaxed body language when playing tag with assessor. He took the toy away but had soft body language. Onandi did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that he can go to an Average home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, wagging tail, ears relaxed, lip long. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Playgroup Notes: Onandi postures to mount. When the helper dog moves away, he begins to roam the yard.
02/29/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Onandi has mostly displayed sexually motivated behavior while off leash with other dogs. On one occasion, he barked in response to receiving correction from a female for mounting. Howver, he did not persist past this. In his most recent interaction, he has become increasingly pushy when attempting to mount. The behavior department recommends giving Onandi time to decompress in a new home environment before introducing him to other dogs. He arrived into our care as a stray, so in-home behaviors with dogs are unknown. When off leash with other dogs, Onandi mostly displays sexually motivated behavior, followng the female greeter and posturing to mount. When the female greeter offers a loud correction, Onandi briefly barks, but then slows down. 3/1 update: Onandi postures to mount. When the helper dog moves away, he begins to roam the yard. 3/2 update: Onandi is pushy when attempting to mount.
