09/09/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/09/16 18:21 Basic Information: Athena is a four year old american pit bull terrier. She was brought into our center because she is sick and her owner is unable to provide the necessary care at this time. She had been in her owner’s care for a week and throughout that week had been around an eight year old family member. Her owner also mentioned that she had some accidents in the home during her stay with them. During her daily walks she would have a lot of energy and appear excitable at first and then in the middle of the walk she would become lethargic, which the owner suspects is due to the fact that she is currently unwell. Behavior During Intake: Upon entering the office it became evident that Athena was sick, due to her constant coughing and her sneezing. Despite the fact that she was not feeling her best, Athena’s body language remained playful, as evidenced by her wagging tail. She walked over to the counselor and stayed by the counselor’s side while she was collared and assessed. The counselor scratched her on the head which she then responded to with additional tail wags. She allowed additional handling and eagerly walked up to another counselor when they entered the room.
09/12/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Athena is an incredibly sweet and fabulous dog. She was my first walk of the day, and my last which is a spot I reserve for my favorites. She’s housetrained as advised by her former owner, good on leash, affectionate, sweet, snuggly and delish! We’re told that she’s lived well with young children, strangers are friends right away, lived with another dog and doesn’t guard her things. After a lovely walk to the park Athena posed like a pro for some pictures – I love her ears which frame her gorgeous face and like a new hairstyle can be ‘worn’ several different ways! So cute! When we cuddled on the bench Athena would nuzzle me with her nose if I stopped petting her, gave me her paw (shake paw or hey, keep petting me) and cuddled in closer. As pigeons came over to investigate if we had food for them Athena ignored them all, only finally giving a half hearted pull towards one that came directly under her feet. She’s a gem whose tail never stops wagging, and who only has love in her heart for her new family. A proven family girl who was well taken care of, she’s at that perfect age…serene and calm and still with just the right amount of energy to enjoy fun time with her new people. Come meet our fabulous girl today and make her yours.
