I am a male black and brown chihuahua sh and toy fox terrier mix. The shelter thinks I am about 11 MONTHS old.
I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 12/08/2016 from NY 10458, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

KNOWN HISTORY: N/A Unaltered, Stray Other notes: Upon intake Omari appeared nervous but he allowed all handling. SAFER ASSESSMENT: Look: 5. Dog growls or tries to bite. Toy: 1. No interest. Summary: Omari appeared very nervous during his assessment and began to yelp and snap when the Assessor attempted to touch his collar. He may benefit best from placement with a New Hope Rescue group. PLAYGROUP: Summary MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 12/09/16 During her initial exam Omari to allowed all handling. ENERGY LEVEL: RECOMMENDATIONS: New Hope Only _X_No children (under 13) _X_Place with a New Hope partner (Omari would benefit best from placement with a New Hope rescue group who can further assess this behavior in a stable environment) Potential challenges: _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression (Omari has been observed to snap when startled. It is recommended that Omari be allowed a proper time to decompress to aid in acclimating to a new environment. Force-free, reward based training is advised when introducing/exposing Omari to new and unfamiliar situations.)
