04/11/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
04/11/16 11:06 Odin A1069959 is a young male brown/chocolate & white perhaps Black Mouthed Cur mix who was found wandering the street of the Bronx a little while ago. The finder isn’t able/willing to keep him. The finder stated he was friendly and allowed them to place him into a crate that they had in their car. During his car ride Odin was given dry Purina Puppy Chow. During intake Odin had a loose wiggly body and seemed to enjoy being pet. He sat nicely when asked and made the cutest puppy head tilts when he heard the squeaky toy during his photo session. Odin allowed to be scanned (-), collared & taken pictures of. He then walked into the kennel on his own after his food.
04/20/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: He may be named for a god, but little Odin is a big mush, and the only power he wields against us humans is the heart-melting cuteness of his face! Playful and friendly, energetic and full of fun, Odin is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get kind of boy, and he’s already earned himself a great behavior evaluation that puts him squarely in the ‘good dog’ camp. This adorable teen was a bit scared when we first met through the door of his kennel, but fast forward a minute or two and it’s BFF central as we chase, snuggle and play with abandon in the yard. He’s a good walker in harness and eager to meet other dogs (and birds!), and while he did do his business outside, may not yet be fully house trained. Odin knows commands for come, sit and stay, and follows them well for the reward of a treat, and we also started to work on ‘shake paw’ with some success…and a lot of impromptu kisses! Always on the go and open to love, Odin would be a great fit for an active, puppy-savvy family of any size or shape. Ask to meet, snuggle and play with this mighty god of cuteness today! Another volunteer writes: When I hear the behavior team talking about a rock star dog, I naturally have to go meet him. Introducing ODIN!!!! Not only is he gorgeous, gentle and friendly, he’s the rockstar helper dog in group play sessions, and he’s amazing. I’ve watched him several times and he’s tolerant, easy, generous and has not yet met a dog he doesn’t like or can’t deal with. If a dog gets too rowdy he simply walks away. His ROCKSTAR playgroup title is earned and well deserved, as he’s a rockstar in every way. The behavior team adores him, and I know that his new family will, too. Of course he’d love a home with another dog, but will be equally happy solo and having some play dates. He’s special, he’s awesome, he’s amazing, he’s ODIN. Come meet him today.
04/13/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Odin came into our center as a stray so behaviors in the home are unknown. During intake, Odin had a loose, wiggly body and allowed all handling. He displayed high energy and movement upon entering SAFER assessment room. Odin jumped up to lick assessor’s face during Look item. He leaned into assessor during Sensitivity item, ears back, body soft and wiggly. Odin was a bit distracted during Tag game but became playful towards the end, soft popping and hopping his body. He pulled out of assessor’s hand on first Squeeze attempt, did not pull back on second, licked assessor’s face. Odin initially showed interest in Toy, but lost interest quickly. When off leash with other dogs, Odin engages in bouncy play. The Behavior Team feels Odin would do well with an Average adopter. Odin may benefit from daily mental and physical stimulation in the forms of daily walks, runs, exercise, play as well as durable toys such as kongs and nylabones to positively direct his high energy and enthusiasm.
