Hello, my name is October. My animal id is #10196. I am a female tan dog at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 4 years 1 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a stray on 19-Oct-2017.
10/30/17 3:29pm October 10169 is at risk due to being diagnosed with Canine Upper Respiratory Disease Complex and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other dogs. October is best suited for an adopter with some previous dog experience.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: ~4 years Microchip noted on Intake? negative History : stray Subjective: BARH Observed Behavior – Tense, low to the ground, ears back, whale eyes. Easily handleable. Did well for all medical handling and procedures Evidence of Cruelty seen – no Evidence of Trauma seen – no Objective P = wnl R = eupneic BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: adult dentition with mild dental tartar, no oral lesions noted PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupneic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: FI, no MGTs but developed mammae, no vulvar d/c MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: Apparently healthy Plan: Continue to monitor while at BACC Prognosis: Excellent SURGERY: ok to schedule for surgery
Coughing/sneezing/and vomiting noted on rounds board Subjective: QAR. No active c/s/v/d but not moving around a lot in the cage. Reported to have vomited yellow bile once this morning and has been coughing and sneezing. Objective EENT: no ocular or nasal d/c H/L: eupneic Assessment: CIRDC Vomited once 10/29 Plan: Start doxycycline 10mg/kg PO SID x14d Recheck at day 7, 10 LRS 20ml/kg SQ once Cerenia 1mg/kg SQ once Move to iso Prognosis: Good

upon intake Glory shy in the beginning, after a few minutes in the admissions office she relaxed and became more friendly and wiggly. she was licking the counselor’s hand and was collared.

Look:: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted, body posture is stiff and fearful, tail is low and not moving. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity:: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, eyes are averted, tail is between legs, body stiff, mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick.
Tag:: 1. Dog follows at the end of the leash, body low and a bit fearful.
Paw squeeze 1:: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Eyes are averted and ears are relaxed or back.
Paw squeeze 2:: 1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw.
Toy:: 1. No interest.
Summary:: October came into the room quiet but a bit fearful, she was timid but friendly towards the handlers.
Summary (1):: When off leash at the Care Center, October initially was nervous, but allowed the novel male dog to greet her. She participates in group with her sibling, becoming confident and engaging in running chase play with other dogs. She was surrender as a stray with another dog. The Behavior Department recommends that October be placed in a home with resident dogs that are respectful and match her calm sociability. 10/20: October is nervous and avoid the greeter most of the session; pacing throughout the pens. She eventually allows him to sniff her- displaying a tuck tail. 10/21: October enters the pen with a soft body and is introduced to a novel female. She is social as she explores the pens and solicits attention from the handlers. 10/22: October is utilized as a greeter dog. She briefly greets nervous male dogs before wandering in the pen. 10/23: October engages in gentle chase play in a group of calm players. 10/24-25: While in a group with her littermate, October engages in running chase play with other players. She grumbles when she becomes uncomfortable with the energy of the group. 10/26-29: Today, October was anxious; pacing throughout the pen. She briefly greets a calm male dog, before exploring the pens.
