A volunteer writes: Oceana like the ocean, ebbs and flows with the tide. Oceana might have had a couple storms pass by her but nevertheless she’s responsive and willing to engage. She’s a tiny little gal, her super short cropped ears give make her head look quite small. In her cage she patiently waits at the front, her head tilts up to gaze at people passing by. She does a little dance when I opened the door and slips her head right away in the leash. Outside she keeps perfect pace with me, though she is on the alert, noises cause her to spin around and freeze, uncertain of their meaning perhaps. It’s midday at a busy intersection so cars honking and construction sounds startle her, people passing by with the usual New York City attitude cause me too to feel a bit uncertain. When we reach a quite area and I bend down, I barely have a second before she dives into my lap curling up into a little ball crouching against me. Her tail starts up a beat against me as I rub her head and pet her and butt scratches even bring a smile to her face, she thanks me with a few kisses. Oceana is in almost perfect health, and only a year old, practically a puppy but she’s quite mature and lacking the craziness of puppyhood(luckily). Sweet Oceana is a little gal in a big world, she would probably love a home where affection is showered down on her, and perhaps some patience and time to adjust, she’s a wonderful little student though and what a brave little heart she has! I can imagine her as a beach gal, chilling on a beach with her sandy colored coat, sunning on a towel. So come on over and meet Oceana at the Manhattan Care Center and get a partner for your upcoming summer adventures!
