08/28/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Little Nula was relinquished into our care as her owner did not know how to make her feel better anymore… Indeed, Nula’s health has declined. She has substantially lost her vision, dropped her weight , is having accidents and is drinking a lot…. Could she have diabetes? Well, Nula is ours, now but just like we do, she is dreaming to be yours, in your caring and loving hands, together with the help of a veterinarian… Being visually impaired, Nula is rightly a bit hand shy. A slow approach with gentle words is needed. She likes to be held against my chest but she enjoys walking too under guidance, of course. Keep talking and hold the leash in a certain way so she does not bump into this environment she is not familiar with. She seems to have a little vision left but I am not quite sure. Nula does her business on the way and although she hears, she does not seemed scared by other dogs barking in the street. Nula is an adorable elderly with a disability. She is a little Pug mix with huge and non seeing eyes…She needs that very special person to open her heart to her and make sure that the rest of her life is spent loved and respected. Nula is at the Manhattan Care Center.
08/30/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Nula walks calmly on leash. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Nula was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. She was easy to handle when chewing on toys. Nula was surrender to us. According to her previous owner she is friendly around strangers. She will growl if young children are too rough with her. She is gently and cuddly with adults. She has never lived with other animals. She will allow people to take away food, treats or toys. Nula did not show any concern during the behavior assessment but because of her owner surrender profile the behavior department feels that she can go to an Experience home. Look: 1.
