08/09/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Nuget came into the shelter on 8/5/16; along with Popcorn, he also spent three days in the client’s home. Nuget was described as well-behaved. Behavior during intake: It was reported Nuget was calm, he allowed all handling. SAFER: During SAFER Nuget came into the assessment room a bit shy he had a calm body posture when interacting with the assessor; he allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Nuget was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resource portion of the assessment. Nuget was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Nuget appears to be sociable, and did not display any behavior concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells, then turns away. Playgroup:When off leash at the Care Center, Nuget greets other dogs appropriately and is tolerant of their solicitations but mostly keeps to himself and wanders the pen.
