Noah is good around young children Noah gets a long well with it and other dogs big and small. Noah likes eating dry food. Noah goes outside when going to the bathroom and Jennifer usually walks Noah two times a day once in the morning once at night. Noah is a little excitable towards everyone because she is fairly young, but she is friendly towards new people. 07/23/17 20:29
07/25/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: A girl and her Wubba! We enticed Nova with different toys but Wubba won, paws down! With momentary breaks to chase another tossed toy, Nova always went back to her Wubba, even bringing it over for a game of tug, which we let her win. We should be a commercial for the Wubba Kong! Nova is shy in her kennel and I sat with her a while, feeding her treats which she took gently, and allowing me to pet her all over. She’s gorgeous in her shiny silver coat, the perfect weight for her size. We’re told that Nova is good with children, gets along well with other dogs of all sizes (in her first group, she greeted the male helper politely with a soft body and wagging tail), is housetrained when walked at least twice a day, and gets excited when she meets new people. I loved watching her play and invite us to play tug, so we’re seeing Nova’s personality emerge. I’m looking forward to spending more time with her as she’s so lovely I can’t stop thinking about her. But mostly, I’ll be thrilled to watch her tail wag out the door with her new person. Be sure to ask for Nova when you visit. A volunteer updates: Miss Nova lies up front in her kennel, a little ball of gorgeous, waiting to be invited for a walk. She’s shyly friendly, loves to be petted, as her tail wags and eyes sparkle. I love seeing that Nova is opening up, welcoming of all, but is still a bit hand shy and nervous with sudden movements towards her. Approached gently, she’s so happy to lean in for petting, finding comfort in her person, giving kisses and enjoying the contact. With an invitation to come in for cuddles she’s there, tail wagging with happiness. If being patient is your strong suit, and the love of the sweetest of dogs is what makes your heart ping, than Nova would love to meet you. Ask for her in adoptions.
07/28/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE

Dog’s eyes are averted, ears back. Her body a bit tense. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is between her legs, body a bit tense, mouth closed, lip lick. Tag: 3. Dog spins toward touch on first pass, crouches on second, does not follow on leash or easily approach at end of game. Squeeze 1 / 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are back. Squeeze 2: 2. Dog gently pulls back and lick assessor’s hand. Toy 1. Dog enthusiastically engages, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Summary: Nova became uncomfortable during Tag, though she did not escalate beyond avoidance behaviors. PLAYGROUP: The previous owner of Nova describes her as “social” around other dogs. In the care center, Nova has initially been fearful of interaction with dogs, though is slowly opening up and beginning to display interest in play. The behavior department recommends slow introductions between Nova and respectful dogs. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 7/23/17 During her initial medical exam Nova was tense and resisted handling. ENERGY LEVEL: In the care center, Nova displays as having a medium to high level of energy. She will benefit from daily mental and physical activity such as walks, runs, exercise, and play to keep her engaged and exercised.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced (suitable for an adopter with some previous dog experience, especially in the behavior outlined below) _X_No young children (under 5) – Nova seems a bit uncomfortable with quick movements, especially if someone unfamiliar reaches over her head. She may be most comfortable in a home without very young children. Older, dog savvy children can be considered pending an indepth interaction. Potential challenges: _X_Handling/touch sensitivity – Nova has been noted to become uncomfortable with handling at times, especially when a person is reaching over her head. It is important to avoid quickly reaching over Nova’s head to pet her unsolicited or reaching for collar/leash at this time. Positive reinforcement, reward based training should be used to pair touch with good things such as food rewards in order to teach Nova to be more comfortable with this. She may do best walking with a harness to avoid reaching around her head and neck area. _X_Fearful – Nova is a bit fearful at the care center. It is important to always go slow and give Nova the option to walk away from any social interaction. Nova should never be forced to approach anything that she is uncomfortable with or to submit to petting or handling. It should always be Nova’s choice to approach a new person or thing. Nova would do best in an initially calm and quiet structured home environment and should be given time to acclimate to his new surroundings.
