A volunteer writes:  I had to look up the definition of Nova.  I knew it had to deal with something in our solar system, but I couldn’t quite remember.  It means a star showing a sudden increase in brightness and then slowly returning to its original state.  I can’t imagine there was ever a time that Nova didn’t shine, or won’t shine in the future.  She is the cutest pocket pit, at under a mere 30 pounds. And I say this out of love, but quite frankly, it’s hard to tell if she’s from this dimension or if she’s not truly from outer space.  She looks like an alien—her small head sits upon the longest neck I have ever seen on a dog, reminiscent of ET and I can almost imagine her turning it at 180 degrees.   She has wide set eyes, a heart shaped head, and little white moonboots, and I bet if you added a few wrinkles and a different color she might pass as ET’s double.  It’s hard to believe that such a unique looking dog would end up in our care, but she was surrendered due to her owner moving.  She is described as friendly, outgoing and energetic, doesn’t seem to like cats, doesn’t show any guarding issues, and is used to sleeping in her owner’s bed.  When I took her to the yard, her enthusiasm for toys and playing was made known.  She eagerly chased after a stuffy, retrieved it and returned it to me.  She is willing to play tug with her toys, or just prance around the yard with them, casually tossing them about only to run after them again.  At one point she tried to pick up two toys with her mouth, but try as she might, that little aperture was just not big enough to grasp both at once.  Though Nova is clearly a dog that is “out of this world” she’s really just trying to find a place she can “phone home.”  Ask to meet her today.
