06/27/16 15:59 Basic Information: Nori is a 7 month old American pit bull Terrier who was surrendered because she was too hyper for her family Socialization: Around strangers Nori is friendly, ougoing, and plays somwhat rough. Nori has spent time with a 2 year old and lived with teenagers around them she was relaxed and played somewhat rough. Nori has never been arounc other dogs or cats so it is unknown how she will react to being around them. Behavior: Nori has never bitten another person or animal. Nori will often urinate and defecate indoors. Nori will often destroy shoes and is not bothered by loud sounds. Nori is friendly when someone touches her food or bowl while she is eating, takes a treat or toy away, pushes/pulls her off of the furniture, gives her a bath, brushes her coat, holds/restrains her, or disturbs her while she is resting/sleeping. If an unfamiliar person approaches Nori’s family or home Nori is friendly toward them. For a New Fmaily to Know: Nori is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, and excitable with a very high activity level. When at home Nori will follow around her owner and likes to play with stuffed toys. Nori was kept indoors only and fed dry food twice a day. Nori is not house traiend and has accidents daily. Nori is not crate trained and pulls very hard on a leash. Nori wll go to the bathrom on grass. Intake Behavior: Nori allowed staff to collar, scan for a microchip and take pictures with no signs of aggression.

Nori was surrenderd into the shelter by her owner who stated Nori is friendly around strangers, she is outgoing, and she plays somewhat rough with the family members. Nori has spent time in the home with a two year old and lived with teenagers. Around the children Nori was relaxed, playful, confident and excitable with a very high activity level. The owner mentioned Nori pulls very hard on a leash during her walks. Upon intake Nori came into the shelter with a relaxed body posture. During SAFER Nori came into the assessment room playful with a loose body posture when interacting with the assessor, she allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Nori was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resource portion of the assessment. Nori was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Nori appears to be sociable, and did not display any behavior concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is open for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1 Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Dog-Dog:Nori solicited gentle play in a group of males and females. When play was not reciprocated, Nori begins to become frustrated. She will bark and muzzle punch the other dog.

According to Nori’s previous owner, Nori has never been around other dogs. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Nori is sometimes able to engage in gentle play with certain dogs. She solicits and may become frustrated when play is no reciprocated, barking and muzzle punching the other dog. She begins to show assertive posturing; mounting other dogs, and targets them by nipping at their faces. In a calm, group session with male and female dogs, Nori is able to wander in the pen, even when play is not reciprocated. In a playful group of males and females, she is a bit nervous and does not engage in play. 6/28: Nori solicits and engages in gentle play. She is sensitive when the other dog attempts to sniff her, spinning her rear end away from him. 6/29: Nori solicited gentle play in a group of males and females. When play was not reciprocated, Nori begins to become frustrated. She will bark and muzzle punch the other dog. 6/30: Nori is nervous when she enters the group. She initially wanders in the pen but eventually attempts to engage in gentle play. She begins to show assertive posturing; mounting other dogs, and targets them by nipping at their faces. 7/2: Nori attempts to solicit play in a group of male and female dogs. When play is not reciprocated, she wanders in the pen. 7/5: Nori is nervous when she is introduced into a playgroup. She is tolerant of the other dogs play solicitations but does not engage in play. She spends her time wandering in the pen.
