02/22/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
02/22/16 15:48 BASIC INFO Noni is a 7 year old female Lhasa Apso / Yorkie mix. Her family got her from a breeder when she was a puppy and surrendered her because she bites when they snuggle her. She has irritated skin because she hasn’t been bathed recently. SOCIALIZATION Noni is friendly/outgoing with most strangers but barks and lunges at people who are afraid (loud, shrill, flailing). She lived with a cat and was relaxed and playful with him. She had seemed sad and bored before her family got the cat. She hasn’t spent time with children or dogs. She bit her owner’s finger 1 year ago while she was bathing her (no broken skin). She also bit her owner’s daughter’s finger while she was bathing her around the same time (she bled and cleaned her finger at home). 2/21/16, Noni bit her owner in the face while she was hugging her tight, squeezing her against her face, and kissing her. Her owner’s face bled and she cleaned it at home. These were Noni’s only 3 instances of biting anyone. BEHAVIOR Noni follows her family during storms. She tries to bite when someone touches her or her dog food while she’s eating. She growls when someone takes her toy but still allows them to take it. She doesn’t mind when someone moves her off furniture or wakes her up. She sometimes doesn’t mind when someone picks her up and sometimes tries to bite. She bites during baths. She sometimes allows her owner to brush her and trim her fur but sometimes tries to bite her. She’s friendly with new people who approach her home/family (she will approach them and wags her tail while they pet her). FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Noni’s family describes her as friendly, playful, and high energy. She follows her family around. She likes stuffed toys and plays fetch and chase. She lived inside and slept on the couch or a dog bed. She ate dry and wet Mighty Dog and Purina dog foods. She’s trained to potty on paper towels and doesn’t potty elsewhere. She’s well-behaved while home alone. She went for occasional slow walks and didn’t pull on her leash. INTAKE Noni was tense and nervous during her intake.

03/03/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Noni walks calmly on leash. She was shy and cautious during the assessment with a low body language. Noni was shy during handling with a fearful body language. She was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Noni was not interested in toys. Noni was surrender to us. According to her previous owner she is friendly and outgoing with most strangers but barks and lunges at people who are afraid (loud, shrill, flailing). She lived with a cat and was relaxed and playful with him. She had seemed sad and bored before her family got the cat. She hasn’t spent time with children or dogs. She bit the owner and her owner’s daughter’s while they were bathing her. She tries to bite when someone touches her or her dog food while she’s eating. She growls when someone takes her toy but still allows them to take it”. Noni allows all handling during the assessment but she wasn’t sociable with the assessor and sometimes she tries to avoid the assessor during the assessment. Because of her owner profile the behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, shy body language , mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) she is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy 1. No interest. Dog – dog 2.
