KNOWN HISTORY: N/A Unaltered, Stray AGGRESSION ASSESSMENT: 09/18/2016 Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is stiff and fearful; her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is between her legs, body stiff, mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 3. Dog repeatedly spins toward the touch, and repeatedly tries to exit. Dog may be crouching, tail is tucked, mouth closed, body stiff. Squeeze 1/2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are back. Toy: 1. Minimal interest. Dog may smell or lick toy, then turn away. Summary: During her aggression assessment, Nivea remained fearful, body tense, crouching, trembling; she would attempt to increase distance from handlers. PLAYGROUP: 09/16/2016 When off leash with other dogs Nivea is uncomfortable and corrects any interaction. Summary MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 09/14/16 During her initial medical examination, Nivea allows minimal handling though will growl and lunge; did not make contact with handler. RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced adult home only _X_No children (under 13) (Potential for defensive aggression) Potential challenges: _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression (Nivea has been uncomfortable her entire stay at our care centers and allows minimal handling. Any attempts to interact with Nivea results in panicked behavior. When pushed she will respond with appropriate warning. We recommend a period of decompression to aid in acclimation to a new environment. Force-free, reward based training is advised when introducing exposing Nivea to new and unfamiliar situations.)
