A Volunteer comments : This Nidoqueen might not be a Pokemon, but she is just as magical! Not only is she really beautiful (who could resist those eyes and that wrinkled face?), she is very wiggly, playful and oh-soo-sweet. She LOVES toys and has invented her own silly game where she lies on the bench with her ball (I’m sure anything bounce-able would do!), pushes it off with her nose, pounces after it, hops back on the bench, and then repeats the process! While it seems she could stay in that loop forever, if I interrupt she proves to be the best kind of fetching partner: she brings the ball right back and easily lets me take it. She seems housebroken, loves treats, and already knows “sit” and “paw.” She was found with a male dog (Nidoking, of course) and seems interested in the other dogs we’ve passed on walks. She likes to scope everything out first, but then wiggles my way, gently puts her paws on me, and proves to be very affectionate. I think she’s quite the catch — please come meet her at Brooklyn ACC!
Another Volunteer comments: Nidoqueen is an elegant young princess. With a pearl gray coat and a white shirt front, she sure is cool looking. Barely one year old, Nidoqueen is your puppy. Come make her acquaintance now.

03/05/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Nidoqueen came to us by way of the NYPD. When entering the behavior room was interested in exploring the environment and displayed some interest in interacting with the assessor. She allowed the assessor to conduct all tactile assessment items without displaying any signs of aggression. However, Nidoqueen did show some concerning behavior during the tag interaction. She became quickly over aroused and began to mouth up the leash very strongly with tense body language, and took a bit of time to de-escalate. Once the item ended Nidoqueen calmed down. She had slightly tense body language on the first squeeze attempt, and had no response during the second attempt. She took the toy away with soft body language during the toy test, but did not place her body between the assessor and toy. Due to the behavior demonstrated during the tag item we recommend a home with and experienced owner and no children. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch body leans on the assessor, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 3. Dog begins to mouth the leash strongly, and bites up the leash with stiff body language. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog quickly pulls back her paw, body a bit tense. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are back. Toy: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. Her body is not between you and the toy, and she is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness.
BEHAVIOR 04/08/16
Nidoqueen came in as a stray, so her past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Nidoqueen was energetic with loose body posture, she allowed all handling. During SAFER Nidoqueen came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, she was friendly and social towards the assessor. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Nidoqueen was easily aroused and began to mouth the leash with tense body language and slowly de-escalates during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Nidoqueen was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Due to the behavior demonstrated during the tag item we recommend a home with and experienced owner and no children.
Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
Tag: 3. Dog begins to mouth the leash strongly, and bites up the leash with tense body language.
Squeeze 1 & 2: 2. Dog quickly pulls back.
Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy.
Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Nidoqueen approaches the gate with a stiff posture, hard stare and a closed mouth. Due to this behavior, she is muzzled before an off leash interaction occurs. Unfortunately Nidoqueen was too distracted and irritated by the muzzle to pay any mind to the helper dog therefore we were unable to assess her at this time. An attempt will be made again.
