Potential challenges: : Handling/touch sensitivity,Fearful/potential for defensive aggression
Potential challenges comments:: Fearful/potential for defensive aggression: Nico has displayed fearful behavior in shelter, he displays no social behavior towards handlers and attempts to increase distance and avoid contact. Because he is so uncomfortable, Nico does not tolerate much human-touch at this time and has attempted to snapped upon direct contact. Handling sensitivity: Nico has been noted to become uncomfortable with handling at times, especially when a person is reaching over him. It is important to always go slow and give Nico the option to walk away from any social interaction. Nico should never be forced to approach anything that he is uncomfortable with or to submit to petting or handling. It should always be Nico’s choice to approach a new person or thing. Nico may do best in an initially calm and quiet home environment and should be given time to acclimate to his new surroundings.
