04/06/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Nicki M previously lived with 1 adult, another dog and has been around children ages 3 and up. The owner stated Nicki is playful when playing with other dogs, sometimes she doesn’t know her strengths and sometimes she can overpower them. The owner mentioned When Nicki M interacts with children she can be a little rough will play however, once she is told to stops she will go to lay down. At intake it was reported Nicki M was hyper but allowed all handling. During SAFER Nicki M came into the assessment room excitable and playful, she was friendly and playful towards the assessor. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Nicki M follows softly, mouths the leash but quickly de-escalates once game ends during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Nicki was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Nicki M appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy. When off leash with other dogs, Nicki M greets, displays high levels of energy and attempts to play, but becomes over aroused, mounting the helper dog and becoming assertive. The session was ended when she began to low growl. The behavior department feels she can be suitable for an experience adopter and we recommend a thorough dog to dog interaction. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, mouths the leash but quickly de-escalates once game ends. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Nicki M greets, displays high levels of energy and attempts to play, but becomes over aroused, mounting the helper dog and becoming assertive. The session was ended when she began to low growl.
