A volunteer writes;

Nena is certainly not a “little girl anymore” at 4 years of age but she is a very endearing, shy and sweet gal I love to hold tight against me like I would,  a child.  Nena is calm in her kennel. What a lovely face. She is part of my pack of lionesses. Her feline like face, her cropped ears, her intense velvety eyes….I see her watching proudly over her brood in the African desert..Nena is relatively well nourished, carries her body on short legs and is dressed in an imperfect cognac color coat.  She is waiting patiently in her den , is leashed easily and walked nicely at my pace, not forgetting to relieve herself on the way. She is cool with her peers, big and small passing by and she is not interested in chasing the pigeons. Nena is so timid. I love the way she sticks barely her little tongue out and leans her head against my own or my legs. She is so in need of reassurance and affection.  I really love Nena. She is pretty, soft, gentle and makes me want to have her spend the rest of her life with me. This is not possible, unfortunately but I so hope that someone will see her goodness and offer Nena his/her heart.  She will be a most awesome and loyal pet…Nena is at the Manhattan Care Center.

If you are local to the Tri-State, New England, and the general Northeast United States area, and you are SERIOUS about adopting or fostering one of the animals at NYC ACC, please read our MUST READ section for instructions, or email helpdogs@urgentpodr.org. Our experienced volunteers will do their best to guide you through the process.

* We highly discourage everyone from trusting strangers that send them Facebook messages, offering help, for it has ended in truly tragic events.*
