PROFILE
Nena A0879764 is a 7 year old Chihuahua mix. She is being surrendered to the shelter because the owner had a new baby. Nena was a gift to the owner from a family member 6 months ago. Nena does not have any health concerns.
SOCIALIZATION
Nena is friendly with strangers. She plays gentle with adults. Nena does not play with kids. She has lived with another Shih/Tzu and they got along fine. She has never lived with a cat.
BEHAVIOR
Nena does not have any behavior issues. She allows you to touch her food bowl, water bowl or toy. During storms or fireworks, she is nervous. Nena allows you to give her a bath. If an unfamiliar approaches the owner or the door to the home, Nena barks.
FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW
Nena is best described as friendly, affectionate and mellow. She has a low activity level. At home, she follows you around. She has been kept mostly indoors. Nena was fed Pedigree dry food. She uses the bathroom outside. For exercise she would be slow walked on the leash.
BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE
Nena was alittle nervous but allowed all handling, collaring and photos.
Behavior:
Nena walks calmly on leash. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Nena followed the assessor at the end of the leash (played growl) with a calm and relaxed body language when playing tag with assessor. She was not interested in toys.
Nena was surrender to us. Her previous owner described her as a friendly, affectionate and mellow. She has a low activity level. Nena is friendly with strangers. She plays gentle with adults. Nena does not play with kids. She has lived with another Shih/Tzu and they got along fine. She has never lived with a cat. She allows the owner to touch her food bowl, water bowl or toy”. Nena did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that she can go to an Average home.
Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture.
Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, ears back, wagging tail, open mouth.
Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw.
Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw.
Toy 1: No interest.
PLAY GROUP
When off leash with other dogs, Nena will wander and offer vocal correction to a sexually motivated male.
3/9 update: Nena greets and sniffs, shows interest in interacting. Nena corrects pushy solicitation.
