I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 06/13/2016 from NY 11236, owner surrender reason stated was BITEPEOPLE.

06/14/16 19:44 BASIC INFORMATION Neco is a male, brown and white American Pit Bull that is 3 year old. Neco was a gift to the owner when he was a few months old. Nece since a puppy was consider part of the family. Neco has been surrender due to a bite history. Neco has no known illness. SOCIALIZATION Neco has never lived with small children. He has lived with only 2 adults. Neco becomes tense and hard barks at stranger that enter the house. When stranger come over the house Neco is escorted to the back yard or the bathroom. Neco is affectionate and very playful around the family. He has never been introduced to cats. When take on walks he growl and pull on the leash at the site of other dog. BEHAVIOR Neco allows all handling from the owner. He allows to be bathed with the water hose outside. He never had his nails trimmed. But he is fine being restrained by the owner only. He is wary of stranger. Neco is housed trained and sometimes use the bathroom on a wee pad or new paper. His wary of stranger and sometimes guard the owner. Neco has had a previous bite history. FOR NEW FAMILIES TO KNOW Neco is described as playful, affectionate and pushy. He follows the owner around the house. His favorite activity is to run outside in the backyard. He spends most of his summer outside in the backyard and taken inside for bed time. Neco knows the command, sit, stay give me paw and come. His favorite dog food is Pedegree dry and sometimes wet as a treat. When he is taken on walks he tends to pull on the leash. If he is left alone in the house he is free to roam and is well behaved. Neco sleep on the floor near the owner’s bed.

Helper dog: A1078142 Neco previously lived with only 2 adults. The owner stated Neco becomes tense and hard barks at strangers that enter the house. The owner mentioned Neco is affectionate and very playful around the family members and is wary of strangers. The owner describes Neco as playful, affectionate and pushy. It was reported by the owner Neco is housed trained and wee-wee pad trained in the house and well behaved when home alone. According to the owner Neco has a previous bite history. The owner reported Neco came into the living room as his daughter was standing next to him talking and Neco began to sniff her leg. Neco then bit her ankle causing her to bleed and severing her bone. The owner stated that his daughter was taken to the hospital for treatment where she received surgery on her ankle. During SAFER Neco came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, he was friendly and social towards the assessor. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Neco was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Neco was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Due to Neco previous bite history, the behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experience adopter with no children. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body soft, ears relaxed, and lip neutral.
