09/14/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/14/16 10:20 Nana is an adult mixed breed dog. She was found tethered to a pole and brought to ACC by police. Nana was a little tense. She walked around pretty slowly. She stood near me while I scanned her (-). She approached and looked at and sniffed me. She was tense with her head low but was tolerant while I collared her. When I finished, she moved closer to me and sniffed me. While I worked, she sometimes sniffed my legs and sometimes walked and looked and sniffed around the room. She was quiet.
09/17/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: A little slip of a girl lies hugging the back corner of her kennel but with my gentle invitation joins me for a walk. Nana may have been a bloodhound in a previous life, as her nose is to the ground sniffing the delights of a city sidewalk as we head to the park. Sweet and incredibly shy, Nana poses for photos, takes treats softly after a sit (she needed some coaxing), and wanted to meet a big boy American Bulldog that passed us by. Nana allows me to pet her gently but its still clear that she’s a bit uncomfortable. A staff person who later moved her to a different kennel told me she’s “sweet” and actually jumped up to be held in his arms! Nana is shy and needs some time to unfold and reveal herself; a gentle touch, a soft voice and patience will give this pretty little girl the time she needs to become one with you. Welcome her into your heart and your home.
09/16/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Nana walks calmly on leash. She was stiff and did not show social behavior during the assessment. Nana was uncomfortable with handling, turning quickly toward the hand trying to bite the assessor. The behavior team decided to skip the handling part of the assessment for safety reasons. During the resources Nana was not interested in toys. The behavior department feels that she would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Look: 4. Dog holds eye contact while remaining motionless with ears forward. Her body is stiff and becomes stiffer as assessment progresses. Sensitivity: 5. Dog tries to bite.
