My name is MUNECO. My Animal ID # is A1099405.
I am a neutered male white maltese mix. The shelter thinks I am about 8 YEARS old.

I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 12/11/2016 from NY 11369, owner surrender reason stated was CHILDCONFL.

12/13/2016 Exam Type OBSERVATION – Medical Rating is 1 – NORMAL , Behavior Rating is NH ONLY, Weight 10.8 LBS.

Chief Complaint: Animal had harden stool on backside in which caused defication issues: Was brought to medical by a ACO. Harden stool was removed and backside was cleaned. Will monitor for BM. Nosf

12/11/16 16:52 basic information muneco is a all white maltese. He is an 8 year old altered male. Owner had recieved him as a gift and had him for all 8 years. Owner is surrendering due to his behavior changing and being protective of a family member in the house. there are no injuries or health concerns owner is aware of. Socialization Around strangers, he is friendly and outgoing by greeting them and letting them pet him. He lived with a 2 year old and 3 month old and is respectful with them.He plays gentle with the kids but does not play with the adults in the home. He has not lived with other dogs or cats. He has a bite history in the past with a person but not an animal. behavior Owner stated that he is reactive with some people. He isnt bothered with storms or fireworks. He isnt bothered with touching food bowl. taking a bone is unkown. He isnt bothered with taking a toy out his mouth. He isnt bothered when given a bath or brushing his coat. trimming of nails is unkown. he barks with unfamiliar approaches for the new family to know Owner described him as friendly and excitable. His activity level is medium. When owner is home he follows youn around. His favorite toys are water bottles and likes to play fetch witht hem. He had a free choice of going in and outdoors. He eats dry food pedigree. He is very house trained and rarely uses accidents in the house.He goes potty on cement and grass. When left alone in yard he is well behaved. He was crate trained but doesnt need it now. He knows sit. On leash he pulls lightly and off leash he stays close by your side Behavior upon intake Dog was not receptive to handling. Counselor could not collar, scan, or take proper intake photo

KNOWN HISTORY: Altered, Owner Surrender Previously lived with: Adults, 2 month and 3 year old children Behavior toward children: Respectful, played gently Behavior toward dogs: Unknown Behavior toward cats: Unknown FG/RG: None reported. Bite history: Has snapped at the owners several times; bit the female owner but did not break skin Housetrained: Yes Energy level/descriptors: Friendly and excitable. His activity level is medium. Other notes: Upon intake Muneco would not allow handling. SAFER ASSESSMENT: Toy: 1. No interest. Summary: Muneco snapped at the Assessor when attempting to collar him. All handling portions were omitted due to stress level/safety concern. The behavior department believes Muneco would benefit best from placement with a New Hope Rescue group who can further assess behavior in a stable environment. PLAYGROUP: Summary MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 12/11/16 During his initial medical exam Muneco appeared very tense and nervous and snapped. ENERGY LEVEL: RECOMMENDATIONS: New Hope Only _X_No children (under 13) _X_Place with a New Hope partner Potential challenges: _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression (Muneco has been observed to snap when frightened/stressed. It is recommended that Muneco be allowed a proper time to decompress to aid in acclimating him to a new environment. Force-free, reward based training is advised when introducing/exposing Muneco to new and unfamiliar situations.)
