SAFER ASSESSMENT:
2/21/17
Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth.
Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Jumps lightly on assessor.
Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds.
Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds.
Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy.
Summary: Muneca displayed no concerning behaviors on her assessment, she was social throughout. She did display a high level of energy and movement, jumping up at times.
DOG-DOG INTERACTION ASSESSMENT:
Summary
PLAYGROUP:
2/19: When introduced off leash to another dog in the care center, Muneca is a bit tense when approached, though tolerates being approached and sniffed. She turns her head away from face-to-face approach.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 2/19/17
During her initial medical exam, Muneca was social and allowed all handling.
ENERGY LEVEL:
We have no history on Muneca so we cannot be certain of her behavior in a home environment. In the care center, she displays a high level of energy and she is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep her engaged and exercised. She jumped up during her assessment moderately in a manner that appeared to be attention seeking. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct her energy and enthusiasm.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience)
Potential challenges:
_X_Basic manners/Poor impulse control (It is recommended that default behaviors such as “Leave it”, “Sit/Stay”, “Down” are reinforced to substitute any frustration and teach her to control her impulses instead of simply reacting; proper management is also advised. Force-free, reward based training only is recommended.)

Kate is an active young female who loves to run and play. She is pretty good on the leash and surprisingly, eliminates in the curve and not on the sidewalk. She looks healthy and well nourished. and seems to have had a litter or two. Her coat, grey and white is not intact. Kate soooo does not belong in a kennel ….She enjoys her freedom off leash in a pen. She is boisterous, jumps on me in excitement and to get the ball I have in my hand. Patience is not one of Kate’s virtues. She wants that ball very much and will leap in the air to catch it. Putting back the leash on her can be a challenge as Kate sees it as a toy to play with….Kate can be very endearing when she decides to relax. She comes on the bench, next to me , her head in my chest for caresses. Kate is athletic girl who needs her few walks a day , an active owner and she will be a fun and loving companion. She is at the Manhattan Care Center hoping to meet you very soon.
