11/28/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
11/28/15 20:02 Mundo A1059124 was found on White plains rd in the bronx. The finder said that when he was found, Mundo was very skinny and had scars on his chest and leg. He found him on 11/21/2015 and has been caring for him since. He was feeding him dry food mixed with wet food. Behavior during intake Mundo was very shy and fearful. The finder had to carry him in because he was afraid to walk. We gave them a temp leash to put on him. The finders girlfriend sat on the floor and Mundo sat on her lap and licked her face. He curled up under her leg and allowed her to pet him. When I apporoached him, his tail was tucked and his head very low. He allowed me to pet him and his tail wagged a little bit. When the leash was tugged, he would scurry very fast and would try to hide. He allowed to be collared and photographed and tolerated all petting.
12/08/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: I’ve seen Mundo a few times but yesterday was my first opportunity to meet him. The behavior staff tells me, “Mundo is the dog you pet when you’re having a bad day”. They tell me that they would take him into the office and just hang out with him when they had to do some paperwork. One of the behavior staff even refers to him laughingly as “her son”, that’s how much she loves him. After meeting this little peanut I totally get it. He’s so tiny — like he shrunk in the wash, and while his tail wags, it’s a low wag as he’s unsure about things. He was found by someone, skinny and with a couple of bites on him, and carried into our care as he was too scared to walk. He knows who his friends are and recognizes staff friends and turns into a little wiggle butt when they’re near. He’s shy and submissive, slowly making friends with me, taking treats and coming between my legs for some petting. As other dogs approach he pays attention, tail wagging gently through the gate. Your heart can’t help but swell at what this little munchkin may have gone through and what he is trying to overcome. He has a huge fan club for his shy but brave personality and now needs a gentle home where he can find his way at his own pace. He’s an awesome little guy who won my heart and I know he’ll win yours as well. Ask to meet him when you visit.
12/02/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Mundo came into our center after a member of the public found him as a stray. He was shy and fearful upon intake, Finder had to carry him into the center as he was afraid to walk. Once inside, Mundo curled up in Finder’s lap and licked Finder’s face, allowed counselor to pet him and allowed all handling, tail low but slightly wagging. During his initial medical exam, Mundo was very timid, once introduced to anyone he would hide under them for comfort, allowed all handling, wagging tail, submissive and very sweet. Mundo was nervous and required some effort to leash, once outside he walked body low and very close to handler’s feet. Mundo allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, body cautious. He leaned into assessor during Sensitivity item, tail down, mouth closed, ears back. Mundo was fearful during Tag game, staying very close to assessor’s legs, but no response at each pass. He did not pull his paw back on both Squeeze attempts, tail down. He showed no interest in Toy. Mundo did not approach helper dog, head low, attempted to exit. Due to his level of nervousness, the Behavior Team feels Mundo would do best with an Experienced adopter. He may benefit initially from a calm, quiet, structured environment so he can relax and know what to expect in his new home. Mundo would do best with a slow approach and slow introduction, he is very timid and should take limited walks on leash until he is more comfortable in his new surroundings. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is a bit cautious, his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans in and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is down, mouth is closed, ears back. Tag: 2. Dog is fearful but unresponsive when touched. Approaches the Assessor when the game ends. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed, tail down. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog does not approach the helper dog, head low, attempts to exit.

He displays sexually motivated behavior and positions himself to mount. 12/18 update: Mundo greets the helper dog, but is tense and standing tall. He attempts to mount but will cease when the helper dog walks away; he corrects solicitation. 12/26 update: Mundo is a bit sexually motivated but will offer play bows and push the helper dog with his paws. 12/29 update: Mundo offers bows but with the intention to mount. He takes correction initially then when a strong correction is offered he overreacts and offers a strong correction in return. 12/30: Mundo greets while slightly stiff bodied. He follows the female helper and postures to mount. 12/31 update: Mundo again is tense while greeting, but interacts appropriately with a group of female dogs–offering occasional play bows.
