08/30/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
08/30/16 11:17 Mumford A1087892 is a young male blue & white AMPBT mix who was surrendered by the friend as a favor of the owner for unknown reasons. They didn’t know or have any information on Mumford (including his name which I gave him) but stated he’s about 1yr 1/2 old and friendly. During intake it was noticed Mumford is quite thin. He is super sweet and allowed all handling. Mumford allowed to be scanned (-), collared and taken pictures of. When asked to go into the kennel he hopped in on his own.
09/06/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: It’s said that the eyes are the windows to the soul, and no one makes it easier for you to see than Mumford. His eyes are crystal clear and gorgeous and he makes soft eye contact the entire time you’re with him. I read his heart behind his eyes and what he wants most in the world is a home and a person or family to call his own. Mumford seems to be housetrained, pulls on the leash slightly, takes treats hungrily because he is (we’re feeding him an extra meal daily as he’s too thin). He catches treats on the fly like the best Yankees outfielder — they’d be proud! He’s absolutely stunning, and he wears his one ear up one ear down so majestically that we received a ton of compliments as we walked through the park. He has the best face! Interested in everything going on in the park, he cuddles in quickly for a kiss, but there’s simply too many fun things to check out on a family day in the park. Off leash, he plays quickly with a plush toy, and as we walk back to his area he greets every small kenneled dog with a soft tail wag. He’s an absolute joy, ready to find a new person or family with whom to snuggle, enjoy nutritious food and lots of love. Are you going to be the lucky one to welcome Mumford into your heart?
09/01/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Mumford pulls a bit on the leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Mumford was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He shows minimal interest with toys. Mumford did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that he can go to an Average home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1/2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. Minimal interest. Dog may smell or lick toy, then turn away. Playgroup notes: When introduced off leash to another dog in the care center, Mumfor approaches and T’s the helper dog’s shoulders with a tense body and high, stiff tail. He does not pursue further. He arrived into our care as a stray, so there is no available history of previous interaction with other dogs. The behavior team feels that Mumford should be allowed time to acclimate to life outside the shelter environment as the only resident dog, before following up on his behavior around them.
