Another volunteer writes: Bouncing in his kennel and ready for a walk, Sir Opie is a major wiggle butt as we start our walk. Fun, friendly, and lively his whirlybird tail betrays his excitement at making new friends. His enthusiasm for whatever life throws his way is fabulous, his ability to adjust to it all is inspiring and he’s ready to show his new person or family that he can sit immediately and wait politely for a treat. Adopted and returned when his family lost their home, we’re told he spent time with a child with whom he was gentle and playful, as well as the female cat in the home. Opie doesn’t guard his stuff, jumps up to greet people, loves playing with toys, is housebroken when walked regularly and is well behaved when left home alone. Sir Opie is looking for his forever, as it seems to have alluded him through no fault of his own. He’s a tiny little guy with a fabulous smile, a sparkle and a zest for life. Come and meet him today.
A volunteer wrote: Opie is a sweetpea of a pup. At 2 years old, this little guy has it all—he’s handsome, happy, a good walker, polite, and lover of treats and his human friends. When I got to his cage, Opie was actually setting in for a nap. But as soon as he saw me, he was up in a flash and headed to the front of his cage to greet me. All traces of “Sleepy Opie” were instantly replaced by “Really, Really Happy Opie Who Wants to Take a Walk!” So we were off to the park! Opie walks very well on his leash and was very focused on all the sights and smells along the way. He is a gentle soul who loves spending time with his human friends and would love the chance to be a furry companion. Come on down and meet this great little dude for yourself!
PROFILE :
Opie A1058954 is a 2yr old neutered male light brown & white AMPBT mix who was adopted from us two wks ago & is being surrendered due to the owner being evicted. Opie was last seen by a veterinarian 2wks ago and currently has no known health issues.
Socialization:
Around strangers Opie is very friendly/outgoing. He’s spent time with a neighbor child that loved him and he was gentle, exuberant & very playful with them, the adult & a female cat in the home. Opie hasn’t lived with other dogs but when he spots a dog on the street he barks excitedly and pulls the owner towards them at times. Opie has never bitten/scratched any person or animal.
Behavior:
Opie isn’t bothered by the following: having his food/food bowl, toys/treats touched/moved or being disturbed while sleeping/resting. Opie hasn’t been brushed, bathed or had his nails trimmed. If someone approaches the home/family member Opie will excitedly bark & jumps on them to greet them & play at times.
For A New Family to Know:
Opie is very friendly, affectionate, very playful, confident, & excitable with a medium-high activity level. The owner likes how friendly he is. Opie enjoys playing with ball, squeaky, rope toys and games of fetch & tug. He’s mostly an indoor only dog who sleeps on linen & is walked 2-3x a day where he pulls strongly on his leash at times. Opie eats dry dog Pedigree food 2x a day and likes any kind of dog treats. Opie’s known commands are “sit” & “come” that he doesn’t always listen to. Opie is well behaved when left home alone and is house broken but will have accidents in the home if someone takes too long to take him out.
Intake Behavior:
Opie allowed all handling. He was very wiggly and seemed to enjoy hugs and being on your lap. Opie allowed to be scanned (+) & collared. A new picture wasn’t needed as he has a recent lovely volunteer picture. Opie then ran into his kennel on his own after his food.

A volunteer writes: “Can you see me now?. Over here – I’m dancing in my kennel as I’d sure like to come out and play.” And so a friendship is born. He’s impossible to resist, his adorable little face, flap ears, saucer eyes, and of course, his tap dance wanting out. Making a beeline for the door outside, he potties immediately so may be housetrained and then we play!! He comes when called doing a little bunny hop as he runs over to me, shows off his way too adorable ‘sit’, and softly enjoys his reward treats. I’m now his serious bestie as I have treats!! As other dogs pass our pen Opie runs over with a happy tail wag, bows through the gate and is thinking how wonderful it will be to play. Alert, energetic and so much fun, Opie isn’t interested in toys at the moment, simply enjoying a romp off leash. He’s a total charmer in his sometimes clumsy way and you can’t not fall in love with his simple and joyful approach to everything. He settles nicely after expending some energy, and I’ve fallen in love with his good cheer, puppy like manner, and fun personality. Our boy is looking for a home in which lots of exercise is available every day, followed up with lots of love. He’s tiny in size, but big in personality and love. I’m smitten! You will be too.
