Muenster
Hello, my name is Muenster. My animal id is #17874. I am a male black dog at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 4 years 1 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a stray on 08-Jan-2018.
Muenster is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other cats. Muenster can go to a experienced dog owner.
Let’s get to know each other a bit more…

Date of initial:: 1/8/2018
Summary:: Difficult to handle because of a high energy, muzzled for exam due to growling.
ENERGY LEVEL:: We have no history on Muenster so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. Muenster is a young, social dog. Muenster will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: EXPERIENCE (suitable for an adopter with some previous dog experience, especially with the behaviors outlined below)
Behavior Asilomar: TM – Treatable-Manageable
Recommendations:: No young children (under 5)
Recommendations comments:: Due to Muenster’s response to some of the SAFER handling items, we feel he may be intimidated by small children.
Potential challenges: : Fearful
Potential challenges comments:: Though observed to be human-social, Muenster may need time to warm up to the handler as he initially presents as a fearful dog with a tense posture- cautious when approaching, but allows soft petting with a wagging tail. We recommend allowing Muenster to interact at his own pace; force-free, rewarding based training is advised when introducing him to new/unfamiliar situations.
