07/03/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
07/03/16 13:11 Due to Morpheus’s owner being unavailable during time of intake, Morpheus profile from June 1, 2016 was used: Socialization: Morpheus is very friendly to strangers. He is a puppy and he has a lot of energy. He has been around children ages 3 months to 9 years old. He is very playful and sometime rough with kids. He has been around another pit-bull puppy and they were very playful together. Morpheus has never been around cats. Behavior history: Morpheus has not had any training at all. He still urinates and defecates indoors on a daily basis. He is often hard to control. He cries a lot when he is left alone. He has never bitten another animal or person. His former owner said he growls at lighters. He does not mind if his food bowl is touched while he is eating. Morpheus does not like the bath. He will struggle to get out. For a new family to know: Morpheus is described as friendly and very playful. His activity level is very high. He is an amazing puppy and he needs a lot of training. Behavior during Intake Morpheus was very active and friendly during intake. He immediately attempted to jump onto counselor to show affection. Morpheus accepted treats and sat when told. Morpheus attempted to chew on rope, but stopped when told and is easily distracted with a treat or toy. Morpheus showed no signs of aggression during intake.

07/05/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Morpheus is the Greek god of dreams. It was said that when in the arms of Morpheus, people would sleep incredibly soundly and dream of their futures. Our Morpheus, no doubt, is full of dreams. Surrendered to our care as his family was moving, this is not 10 month-old Morpheus’s first stay with us, or even his second. Morpheus joined us for the third time right before Independence Day. Ironic, as independence is likely the last thing this babe in the woods wants or needs. Morpheus isn’t a complicated fellow. From what I can tell, he is made up of three key ingredients: ears, sugar, and a smile a mile wide. First things first! Those ears are truly a sight to behold. They sit perched atop his head like two sparrows on a roof, overseeing every new adventure, fluttering and flickering with his every move. Next comes the sugar. Well with a cinnamon coat such as that, it’s impossible not to crave something sweet, and I’m pleased to report that goofy, silly, loving Morpheus is just as delectable inside as he is out. And last but not least, that smile. Tongue Out Tuesday seems tailor-made for his cartoonish grin, and he wears it constantly despite the fact that one could say life’s dealt him one or two lemons. All this boy’s missing, the one, final ingredient, is the constant, compassionate, and endless love of a forever family. Imagine the dreams he would have in arms such as those. The sweetest there are. Morpheus is waiting in adoptions at Manhattan’s ACC.

07/06/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Morpheus pulls hard on the leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. He was overexcited during handling, jumping up, and was hard to position, but showed no aggression. Morpheus was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He took the toy with a soft body language. Morpheus was surrender to us. According to his previous owner Morpheus is very friendly to strangers. He is a puppy and he has a lot of energy. He has been around children ages 3 months to 9 years old. He is very playful and sometime rough with kids. He has been around another pit-bull puppy and they were very playful together. He does not mind if his food bowl is touched while he is eating”. Morpheus is an active dog he need a significant amount of exercise and mental stimulation. The behavior department feels that he can go to an experience home. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. His body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Playgroup Notes: Morpheus engages in bouts of play at first, then becomes overwhelmed and begins to avoid solicitation.

06/03/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
During his first stay at the care center Morpheus would engage in play with select dogs but was typically anxious in the yard and would seek exit throughout most interactions. However, during his most recent stay he has been less anxious and more social. He will now engage in play when solicited and has only attempted to mount once. His owner reports he “has been around another pit-bull puppy and they were very playful together.” The behavior department recommends a pre-adoption interaction to ensure compatability with any resident dogs. 6/3: When off leash with other dogs, Morpheus greets politely, roams, displays some interest but does not engage in play. 6/4 update: Morpheus is anxious, barking in the pen until he is removed. He ignores greeting. 7/3 update: Morpheus engages in play with the female greeter, taking pauses in between. 7/5: Morpheus engages in bouts of play at first, then becomes overwhelmed and begins to avoid solicitation. 7/7: Morpheus sniffs and greets, then wanders around. 7/8 update: Morpheus engages in brief play but is overwhelmed by an exuberant female. 7/9 update: Morpheus is a bit sexually motivated but will engage in play when solicited.
