Basic information
Tyco is a 10 year old male large breed with no know medical conditions. Owner has had Tyco for 3 years and is surrendering him and his house mate Missie because they are moving.
Socialization
Tyco has lived with children ages2,3 and 9 and is very relaxed and affectionate with them. Tyco plays gently with both adults and children. Around strangers Tyco is friendly and outgoing. Tyco has not lived with cats and behavior is not known for interacting with them. Tyco has lived with another dog and was respectful and playful with them. Tyco does not have a bite history.
Behavior
During storms and fireworks Tyco is calm
Tyco isn’t bothered when having his food bowl touched or having toys and treats taken away. Tyco doesn’t go on the furniture at home and isn’t bothered when being held or retrained. Tyco went to the groomers to be bathed and have his nails trimmed. Tyco enjoyed being brushed. When someone unfamiliar approaches the house Tyco will greet them happily.
For the new family to know
Tyco was described as friendly affectionate and dependable with a high activity level. When home with Tyco he likes to be in the same room as you or his house mate Missie. Tyco enjoys playing with bones and balls. Tyco eats Pedigree wet and dry food but prefers wet food. He also enjoys table scraps. Tyco is house trained and goes for 3 walks a day. Tyco is use to going to the bathroom on grass or cement . For exercise Tyco goes to parks and runs in the fields. Tyco doesn’t pull on the leash and when off the leash he will stay close by your side. Tyco is well behaved when left in the house and yard alone. Tyco knows the commands sit, stop and come eat. When it’s time for bed Tyco sleeping with Missie on the floor in the bed room.
Behavior during intake
Tyco was very calm during intake. Tyco came up to the counselor and enjoyed being pet. He allowed to be scanned and collared with a loose body.
Group Behavior:
Tyco’s previous owner reported that he lived with a female dog and was gentle with her.
06/12/17: When off leash at the Care Center, Tyco approaches the female greeter with a neutral posture. He remains soft and social, following the other dog around and occasionally sniffing her genitals and her urine.
