PROFILE :
Basic information:
Mochi is an 11year old Shih Tzu who was surrendered to ACC along with his housemate Coco due to their previous owner having a new baby in the home and having no time/ financial difficulties caring for them.
Socialization:
Around strangers Mochi is friendly, outgoing and plays exuberantly with adults and children. Mochi has lived with children of all ages but is most relaxed with children over the age of 10 years old. Mochi has lived with two other Shih Tzu’s who he was relaxed and playful with. With new dogs Mochi tends to get a bit nervous at first. Mochi has never been around cats so it is unknown how he will react to being around them.
Behavior:
Mochi has never bitten another person or animal and often barks when someone rings the doorbell. Mochi will have an accident if he is not taken outside on time. Mochi is not bothered by loud sounds. Mochi is friendly when someone touches her food or bowl while he is eating, takes a treat/toy away , pushes/pulls him off of the furniture, holds/restrains him, disturbs him while he is resting/sleeping, give him a bath, brushes his coat and trims his nails. If an unfamiliar person approaches Mochi’s family or home he will be friendly towards them.
For a new family to Know:
Mochi is described as friendly, affectionate, confident, mellow and excitable with a medium activity level. When at home Mochi will follow around his owner and likes to play with squeaky toys. Mochi was kept indoors only and was fed dry food from the brand beniful twice a day. Mochi is house trained and will have accidents if not taken outside on a schedule. When left alone at home Mochi is well behaved and has never been crate trained. Mochi knows the commands sit and stay. Mochi likes brisk walks on a leash and will run away if taken off leash.
Intake Behavior:
Mochi allowed staff to collar scan for a microchip and take pictures with no signs of aggression. Mochi was a bit nervous at first but then warmed up to staff over time.
