SOCIALIZATION
Around strangers Mocha is friendly/outgoing. She’s spent time around younger neighborhood kids and was gentle, exuberant, relaxed, playful with them also the adults in the home. According to the owner Mocha doesn’t like female dogs or male dogs that attempt to mount her. She has never bitten/scratched any person or animal.
BEHAVIOR
Mocha isn’t bothered by the following: having her food/food bowl, toys/treats touched/moved, being moved off of furniture, being brushed, bath time (at times) or being disturbed while sleeping/resting. She hasn’t had her nails trimmed. If someone approaches the home/family member Mocha will bark.
FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW
Mocha is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident & excitable with a high activity level. The owner likes that she’ll bring you her leash when she wants to go out and Mocha enjoys playing. Mocha enjoys ball, squeaky, stuffed & rope toys and games of fetch, chase, wrestling & tug. She is mostly an indoor only dog who sleeps on a dog bed or in a crate, she is walked 2x a day where she pulls on her leash. Mocha eats dry Purina dog chow 2x a day. She will have accidents in the home if someone takes too long to take her out. When left home alone Mocha is placed in her crate.
SAFER
Mocha came into our center as an owner surrender citing owner’s health issues. It is reported Mocha has spent time with neighborhood children, is gentle, exuberant, relaxed, playful. Owner reports Mocha isn’t bothered if anyone touches her Food, Toys, Treats. Mocha is placed inside a crate when home alone, will bring you her leash when she wants to go out. Mocha is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, and excitable. During intake, Mocha allowed all handling, very wiggly, jumping affectionately onto admissions counselor’s lap. Mocha pulled on leash for her relief walk. He jumped up and licked assessor’s face during Look item. Mocha leaned in during Sensitivity item, licks hand, tail wag. Mocha follows at the end of the leash for Tag game, a bit distracted. She pulled her paw back and whimpered on both Squeeze attempts. She showed no interest in Toy, though this may be due to environment as owner reports Mocha enjoys balls, squeaky, stuffed, and rope toys as well as games of fetch, chase, wrestling, and tug. When off leash with other dogs, Mocha avoids and seeks handler attention. The Behavior Team feels Mocha would do well with an Average adopter. She may benefit from daily mental and physical stimulation in the forms of daily walks, runs, exercise, play as well as durable toys such as kongs and nylabones to positively direct her enthusiasm.
Look: 1. Dog jumps up to lick the Assessor’s face with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, licks assessor’s hand
Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft
Squeeze 1 / 2: 2. Dog gently pulls back and whimpers.
Toy 1: No interest.
Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Mocha avoids and seeks handler attention.
INTAKE BEHAVIOR
Mocha allowed all handling. She allowed to be scanned (-), collared & taken pictures of including positioning her during her photo session which was a little difficult as she was very wiggly and wanted to jump onto my lap and or grab the squeaky toy. Mocha then walked into the kennel on her own.
