I am a female white and brown am pit bull ter mix. The shelter thinks I am about 1 YEAR 6 MONTHS old.
I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 11/14/2016 from NY 11208, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

11/14/16 14:56 Upon intake dog allowed all handling. She accepted treats and allowed counselor to pet her and rub her stomach. She did bark and try to get to 2 other dogs that were in the lobby. Once the dogs left she began to calm down. As per the finder he stated she walked easy on the leash when he walked her to the shelter.

KNOWN HISTORY: N/A Unaltered, Stray Other notes: Upon intake Misty allowed handling. SAFER ASSESSMENT: 11/16/16 Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft but distracted. Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy: 1. No interest. Summary: Misty was friendly and social towards the assessor, she displayed no behavior concerns. PLAYGROUP: Misty was surrendered as a stray so her past behavior around dogs is unknown. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Misty mostly keeps to herself when wandering a group of calm male and female dogs. She is tolerant of a male that attempts to mount her but will offer correction when a dog solicits play. The Behavior Department recommends that Misty be placed in a home with a dog that matches her calm energy level and that a proper dog-dog interaction is conducted to ensure compatibility. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Misty mostly keeps to herself when wandering a group of calm male and female dogs. She is tolerant of a male that attempts to mount her but will offer correction when a dog solicits play. The Behavior Department recommends that Misty be placed in a home with a dog that matches her calm energy level and that a proper dog-dog interaction is conducted to ensure compatibility. 11/15: Misty displays slightly stiff body language when greeting a novel female dog. The greeter dog is held back to give Misty the chance to approach when she feels comfortable. She greets the other female dog, displaying softer body language as the session continues. She mostly keeps to herself as she explores the pen, offering a soft correction -an air snap- when the greeter dog solicits play. 11/16: Misty displays slightly looser body language when interacting with a calm female dog. She mostly keeps to herself as she explores the pen. 11/17-11/19: Misty keeps to herself when wandering the pen with a group of males and females.
