I am a female gray and white am pit bull ter mix. The shelter thinks I am about 3 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 03/05/2016 from NY 11221, owner surrender reason stated was PET HEALTH.

03/06/2016 Exam Type RE-EXAM – Medical Rating is 4 NC – SEVERE CONDITIONS NOT CONTAGIOUS, Behavior Rating is NONE, Weight 42.0 LBS.
03/06/16 16:23 HX Owner reports weight loss and loss of balance despite feeding over the last three months S/O: QAR. No ocular or nasal discharge. MM pink, CRT <2s. Mild waxy debris AU, scabs at distal tips of both pinnae. BCS 2/9. Generalized muscle atrophy/wasting. Multifocal areas of thickened skin and hair loss over the bony prominences on all limbs. Cardiothoacic auscultation WNL, sinus arrythmia, strong synchronous pulses. Abdominal palpation WNL Mild ataxia/weakness when ambulation. Decreased CPs in both hind limbs. No pain elicits on brief othropedic examination, normal ROM. A: Underweight, ataxia, weakness, generalized muscle wasting, multiple calluses. Ddx: Poor nutrition/housing conditions vs neuromusculardisease/polymyositis/myopathy vs other underlying condition. P: Will schedule 3x/day feedings and monitor weight gain. If no improvement w/ appropriate nutrition and housing, recommend CBC/Chem/UA, possible imaging. R/o for neuromuscular conditions may include trial w/ corticosteroids, neurology consult, EMG study, muscle biopsy, etc. Temporary waiver from surgery due to poor condition at this time. 03/05/16 20:42 Basic Information: Misty is a three year gray and white female American Pitbull. She was surrendered due to her health issues and owner not being able to afford care. She with her owner since she was a puppy and is described as friendly, affectionate, and mellow. Socialization: Misty has lived with one adult. She has lived with another dog in the home, her father and is described as relaxed and affectionate. Owner stated they would sleep together and play together. Around strangers she is described as friendly and outgoing and will greet visitors with a loose body and tail wagging. She has been around children of all ages and is described as relaxed and engages in gentle play. Behavior: Misty often urinates and defecates indoors. Owner stated she will defecate in the home daily. When her food is touched while eating she will eat faster and move the bowl around. She is not bothered when her treat or toy is taken away. She enjoys baths and her nails were not trimmed by owner. She likes to be brushed and when held or restrained she will lick and wag her tail. When a stranger approaches her yard she will bark and greet the visitor once insde the home. She will hard bark at anyone wearing a hoodie or has their face covered. For a new family to know: Misty’s activity level is described as medium , when home she tends to stay in her favorite spot the bathroom where she sleeps. She likes balls and playing tug and fetch. She has been kept mostly outdoors and lived in a home with a yard. For exercise she is used to playing in the yard. When off leash she is will stay close by her owners side. She was crate trained but owner stated she wil not do well. She knows the commands sit, stay, and come. She eats dry food Merrick brand and is fed a cup and a half a day as well as plain rice. She loves any treat. Upon intake Misty was calm and allowed all handling, counselor was able to scan (negative),collar and photograph. She was receptive to treats.

When introduced to another dog, Mistly approaches the gate with a soft body posture and low tail. The dogs were kept on lead when the gate was opened due to Misty’s medical condition. She exchanged sniffs and then explored the yard. At one point the helper dog walked passed her and she followed to investigate what he was doing.
