A volunteer writes: And the award for the best smile goes to………..Mischief!! Yay!!!! Fun, lively, affectionate and so housetrained he peed for so long once we were out the door I was afraid he’d topple over from exhaustion on three legs!! He’s our golden boy in a gorgeously groomed coat, a tail that never stops wagging, a tongue that loves to give kisses, eyes that sparkle with fun and friendship, and the knowledge that everyone who meets him will fall in love. How can you not? Mischief pulls on the leash in his joy to be out on a bright, cold day and may do better in a harness and/or some leash training. He’s actively snuggly and does everything with enthusiasm and good cheer. He’s looking for a person or family with a spirit to match his, the ability to approach every day with a smile and some exercise followed up with lots of cuddling. In his first playgroup he enjoyed chase play with the female helper dog. So, if you’re ready for a dog who loves life and wants to share it all with his new best friend, come meet Mischief today.

DOG-DOG INTERACTION ASSESSMENT:
Summary
PLAYGROUP:
When introduced off leash to another dog in the care center, Mischief engages in bouts of chase play with the female greeter dog.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:
During his initial medical exam, Keebler allowed handling.
ENERGY LEVEL:
We have no history on Keebler so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. In the care center, he displayed a high level of activity. During his assessment, he jumped up on the assessor with a moderately, apparently in an attempt to get closer to the assessor. He is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience)
Potential challenges:
_X_Basic manners/Poor impulse control (It is recommended that default behaviors such as “Leave it”, “Sit/Stay”, “Down” are reinforced to substitute any frustration and teach him to control his impulses instead of simply reacting; proper management is also advised. Force-free, reward based training only is recommended.)
_X_Leash-biting
When introduced off leash to another dog in the care center, Mischief engages in bouts of chase play with the female greeter dog.

A volunteer writes: Mischief’s owner lost his home, and Mischief, of course, has lost his. We’re told by someone who knows him that Mischief is friendly to all and to prove it he play bowed to the intake staff. He’s also housetrained (check), and I’m told that during the intake process he took his leash off the hook and put his head through the loop letting everyone know a walk would be a lovely idea! How cute is that? He’s a gorgeous, friendly, happy boy and I was thrilled to spend time with him. He pulls slightly on leash, but no biggie, sits before being asked to for a treat, loves to play off leash with a ball, wags his tail all the time, and even harder when I talk to him. He seems to love other dogs, wanting to meet a group of small dogs at a corner. Mischief loves people, happy to meet everyone who wanted to meet him, and then draping himself in my lap for some hugs and kisses. He’s an awesome dog and I’m totally smitten. No mischief here…just a fun loving, affectionate, gorgeously taken care of dog who needs a new home. Someone is going to be very lucky, and shouldn’t it be you?
