JUNE 2016
A volunteer writes: Remember the game 20 questions? One of the typical questions was “is it smaller than a breadbox”? Well….Mino is much smaller than a breadbox – he’s TINY! Wagging his tail in his upper kennel and literally jumping into my arms when I opened his door we rush outside to go potty confirming the information from his former owner that he’s housetrained. We’re also told that Mino lived with children from ages 4 to 13 and is playful and gentle with the kids even if they pulled his ears. Mino also lived with a 10 mos. old energetic pit bull with whom he played, but is not good with small dogs. He’s well behaved when left home alone, slept with one of the children, followed the kids around the house making it even sadder that he was surrendered to our care when one of the kids developed bad allergies. Mino is a rockstar on leash, his little legs motoring along at a good pace, he sits as soon as he sees a treat which he takes gently, wants to meet every dog we pass in the park, and is gentle, calm and quiet. Making friends with someone in the park who wanted to meet my tiny companion, Mino wagged his tail and gave him a kiss………..awwwwww…….. In group play he greets the helper dog briefly and then roams the pen. Gorgeously taken care of, quiet, sweet and easy, Mino would love a new person or family to take care of. He’s such a cute little dude, you need to meet him today!
PROFILE :
Basic
Owner is surrendering Mino because his son has very bad allergies towards Mino. Mino was given to the current owner by owner before because he did not have the time to take care of him. Owner states that he had no previous health issues or injuries and had not been to the vet recently.
Socialization
Mino is friendly and outgoing. Mino has lived with children aging from 4yrs old to 13 yrs. old. He is playful and gentle when playing with kids and adults. When child pull his ears or tail the owner states that he is okay being touch by children. Owner stated that he is good with big dogs but is not good with small dogs and would be aggressive towards them. Mino has lived at home with a big dog that was 10 months old. They played and the owner states that Mino would know his limits when playing. He states that he would never play too rough. Mino has never been around cats before. Owner states Mino has never bitten anyone or animal before.
Behavior
Mino was well behaved at home and would only bark if someone was approaching the door or rang the doorbell. The owner would have him home by himself for about 8-10 hours and he would be good at home. Mino would not be bothered by storms or fireworks but owner said that he would be curious to look where the sound came from. When taking or
touching his food bowl, water bowl, treats and toys he would not be bothered by it. When picking him up or restraining him the owner’s son stated that he would bite and does not like it at all. He is afraid when getting baths and they have never trimmed his nails before.
For the new family to know
The owners described Mino to be friendly, confident, and independent. Mino had a medium activity level and loved to play fetch. The owner stated that he loved following his 13yr old son around everywhere. Mino would sleep with the owner’s son or in his own bed if the son was not around. Mino ate a mix of wet and dry food of Taste of the Wild.
Mino was house trained and has never had a accident at home. He would potty outside on the grass and would do a kick back after he was done using. He has never been crate trained and is very well behaved at home. He knows sit, stay, come and down. When off leash he would wander but when called he would comeback.
Intake
During intake Mino had a soft body. He allows scanning (+), collaring and having his picture taken. Mino was pacing back and forth. He took the treats that were given to him as well.
